In March 2019 Forte will open the second call within the research programme on applied welfare. The call welcomes applications for five kinds of grants. The aim is to strengthen long-term knowledge expansion and development within the field of applied social services, and strengthening collaboration between research and practice.

The call consists of five different types of grants:

  • Programme grants (6 years)
  • Grants for practice oriented part-time research positions (3 years)
  • Postdoc grants (2 years)
  • Planning grants (1 year)
  • Systematic reviews (1 year)

The call welcomes applications from various research areas and one particular aim is to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration as well as collaboration between research and practice. We therefore encourage researchers interested in applying for grants within the call to establish relevant collaborations in due time.

This funding includes client and practice oriented research within the social services field, which is oriented towards:

  1. The effects of interventions
  2. Methods for needs assessment for individuals
  3. Early/preventive measures of the social services
  4. Implementation and change management
  5. Coherent service provision initiatives
  6. User participation
  7. Digitalisation and welfare technology
  8. Non-profit and entrepreneurial providers of social services

To be able to apply for a grant, a Swedish university or another research funding body must administrate the funding and have an organisational account in Prisma. The administering organisation should apply for this in due time via https://prisma.research.se/

The call is estimated to close in late April 2019.  More information about the call, its focus and comprehensive instructions for applicants will be published on this website when the call opens.

Brief information about the grant types

  • Programme grants aim to strengthen applied welfare research on a long-term basis and enable the development of research environments within the areas stated above. This effort will enable research groups to address new issues and process them for a longer period.
  • Grants for practice oriented part-time research positions will give researchers working with social services issues outside of the academy the opportunity to carry out research and translate their research experience into practice. The grant can be applied for by researchers working within the social services, medical services, research and development units within the social services, other public agencies and organisations.
  • The postdoc grant will give researches who recently (at the earliest January 2017) obtained their doctoral degree the opportunity to resume their research career. Forte welcomes applications for additional funding for staying abroad.
  • Planning grants are given to prepare for major research projects, establish collaborations with among others various research disciplines, practice and users including the possibility to launch a pilot study.
  • Grants for systematic reviews are given to identify current knowledge and research needs within a well-defined topic.

The call will be open between 5 March and 18 April.
